The GoLakes Travel team are going to get their hands (and feet) dirty to prove how easy it can be to drive less and see more. We have decided to set ourselves a 1000 mile challenge as part of the John Muir Award in the Lake District.
The team will aim to wrack up 1000 sustainable miles by the end of March 2014 as part of the award, which encourages people to discover wild places, explore them, conserve them and share the experience.
We will blog, tweet and facebook about our adventures to give you guys some ideas and inspiration on sustainable adventures. We might even need some recommendations from you on wild places we can discover. So watch this space to keep track of our progress and get involved in the GoLakes Travel 1000 mile challenge.
The rules:
- The miles will be a mix of people-powered transport (walk, run, cycle, swim, paddle) and public transport (bus, rail, ferry and boat)
- Our adventures will start from the doorstep wherever possible
